Should there have been alarms that have went off when the emergency door was propped? Do we want guards at the doors of our movie arenas, mental detectors? Maybe we could employ the TSA agents. We have Marshall’s in the air when we fly. Will our freedoms ever be the same or will it be altered forever?
The lawyer, Donald Karpel is going to launch a civil suit to three defendants, the Century Aurora 16 movie theater, Warner Bros. Entertainment and the doctors for alleged Colorado gunman James Holmes.
Torrance Brown, Jr. has hired above counsel. He walked away physically not injured. But saw he best friend die, A.J. Boik, He claims to be suffering from extreme trauma.
Is this just the beginning?

I knew this was going to happen. the movie ticket will now have a disclaimer written on the ticket so you will just sign your rights away.
I believe there will be money exchanged but it should go to the victims that do not have insurance.

This is so disgusting. Warner Brothers made the movie. Why would anyone think that anything like this would ever happen. This action makes him look like he isn’t in grief, he is only worried about getting money. He, his parents and the lawyer should be ashamed to make this charge and none of the dead have been buried. How disgusting. I hope he loses on every account.
I agree…this is tacky to say the least. Yes he did lose a friend in the tragedy…yes he did see some horrible things that night…And true, none of us can say with 100% certainty how we would react in that same situation. However, he is suing Warner Bros. because they made a violent movie. If I’m not mistaken, he went to the movie under his own accord. The other two Batman movies were violent. How could he assume this one would be different and in the same genre as Nickelodeon or Disney “G” rated shows? He is helping to promote the sale of these movies…I’m assuming he bought a ticket to the film. If this was such an issue to him to begin with, why did he go?
Why would anybodys reaction would be to sue? I think if I were a judge I would give him the cost of his ticket and thats it. His photo should go into some hall of shame. He and his attorney are making money off of other peoples sincere grief.
Great discussion. These lawyers are ambulance chasers. I had read that many people since they were young do not have money to bury the dead.

They should certainly have “mental detectors”! The kid survived and now he’s looking to profit off it. We expect this from low-life lawyers but from a teenager? And within days of it happening? I’m sure it was traumatic but he looks to be of the same moral character as the ambulance chasers. Hey, “Sr.” can’t you teach your kid any morals?
When I first saw this young mans face, he appeared to be happy with all the attention he was getting. If this was my child, he would recant everything he said and fire his attorney. I agree that this child has lost his moral compass.
