Looks Like Ryan: Mitt’s Pick
For one thing, Ryan has no significant private-sector experience. Besides summer jobs working at McDonald’s or at his family’s construction company, or waiting tables as a young Washington staffer, Ryan has none of the business-world experience Romney frequently touts as essential for governing. In the run-up to his first campaign for Congress, in 1998, that gap was enough of a concern for Ryan that he briefly became a “marketing consultant” at the family business, an obvious bit of résumé puffing.
But Ryan’s Washington experience is also light, at least for a potential President—which, after all, is the main job description of a Vice-President. Ryan has worked as a think-tank staffer and Congressman, but he’s never been in charge of a large organization, and he has little experience with foreign policy. Given how Sarah Palin was criticized for her lack of such experience, I’m surprised that Romney would pick someone whose ability to immediately step into the top job is open to question.

How Romney Kept Paul Ryan’s Pick for VP a Secret
Clandestine flights. A slight disguise. Long drives to out-of-the-way airports by an aide’s 19-year-old son. An afternoon dash through the wooded ravine behind Paul Ryan’s house in Janesville, Wis.
These were just some of the things the Mitt Romney campaign did to keep the world from knowing the presumptive Republican presidential nominee had decided to pick Ryan as his running mate.

How Campaign Outwitted the 24-Hour News Cycle
The escape plan was carefully choreographed. On Friday, after a day of work, Representative Paul D. Ryan pretended to turn in for the night, walking through the front door of his home in Janesville, Wis.
He did not stay for long.
To elude reporters camped outside, he slipped out the back door with a suitcase and walked through the dense woods that surround his property. He exited on a nearby street, where an aide in a waiting car drove him to the airport.
His destination, the Republican ticket.
For the past 10 days, the Romney campaign took extraordinary measures to keep Mr. Ryan’s whereabouts and movements a mystery. In the process, the campaign pulled off a rare feat in the era of the Twitter news cycle: Mr. Romney unveiled his vice-presidential pick on his own schedule, keeping his running mate’s identity secret until a few hours before a rally in Norfolk, Va., on Saturday morning.

I have always liked Ryan, he was the only adult on the hill. He had the guts to give the American people the truth unlike the lies from Obama. People respect the truth and hate it when they are lied to over and over again.
Near-Even Split on Ryan – But With Positive Movement
In weekend interviews 38 percent responded favorably to Ryan joining the Republican ticket, up from 23 percent in pre-selection interviews last week. Positive views rose among independents as well as among Republicans, and among women. And Ryan was notably well-received among senior citizens – a group of interest given his plan to reshape Medicare.

Mitt Romney stops at El Palacio De los Jugos in Miami as part of bus tour in Florida
Continuing his swing-state bus tour, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Monday afternoon visited El Palacio de los Jugos in Miami, where he was greeted by a large, enthusiastic crowd. He gave his standard stump speech — absent a single mention of Medicare.
The crowd didn’t seem to mind and cheered robustly — especially when he mentioned Sen. Marco Rubio, who introduced him and whom Romney mentioned as much as his new running mate, U.S. House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan.

John Zogby Poll: Ryan Gives Romney Big Push in Swing States, Independents
Mitt Romney’s campaign has gotten a decisive bump upwards with the selection of Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate, a new poll by JZ Analytics reveals.
The poll — the first survey conducted after Romney announced Ryan as his vice presidential choice — shows the Romney/Ryan ticket tied with Obama/Biden at 46 percent.
But a JZ Analytics poll from a few weeks ago had Obama leading Romney by 5 percentage points, and most major polls also had Obama comfortably in the lead before the Ryan selection.

A Romney first: over 40% of youth vote back him
For the first time since he began running for president, Republican Mitt Romney has the support of over 40 percent of America’s youth vote, a troubling sign for President Obama who built his 2008 victory with the overwhelming support of younger, idealistic voters.
Pollster John Zogby of JZ Analytics told Secrets Tuesday that Romney received 41 percent in his weekend poll of 1,117 likely voters, for the first time crossing the 40 percent mark. What’s more, he said that Romney is the only Republican of those who competed in the primaries to score so high among 18-29 year olds.
