Mitt Romney’s full speech at NAACP, with standing ovation. “I believe that if you understood who I truly am in my heart, and if it were possible to fully communicate what I believe is in the real, enduring best interest of African-American families, you would vote for me for president,”
Vice President Biden will speak to the group tomorrow. Obama won’t even be addressing the NAACP convention.
Now hearing mixed reports from MSM ( You know he ventured into Democrat territory)
Romney Says He Knew He’d Be Booed at NAACP, Listen Obama had his paid screamer, calling him a racist. Disgrace!
The black audience members rained boos on Romney three times during his speech — first when he said he’d repeal the health law, once when he said Obama’s record proves he hasn’t done enough on the economy and other matters, and once when he told them that he would be a president who makes the lives of African-Americans better.

Double racist standards: Romney gets ‘no credit’; Obama can’t be bothered showing up at NAACP convention

I believe what was said on twitchy that Obama thinks he has the blacks in the bag and doesn’t have to go to speak at the NAACP. To me it makes Obama look like he doesn’t have the time or he really thinks he owns them.
Yes, they are spinning it the Romney made bad there. It doesn’t sound like that to me at all. They are for traditional marriage, and God fearing ppls
Obama is sending good old Joe in place of him. I am sure it will go over greatly. 🙂
I think he did better than what anyone thought he would. There were some cheers. I am with you most black Christians are God fearing and they won’t bend from the bibles teachings.
Let’s pray Obama doesn’t have the black clergy paid off, like he did last election.
I loved what he said he did the the schools MA. I would love if the schools could fire a bad teacher. Why does the union want to protect a person who can’t teach their children? That has never made sense to me. I pray that the blacks put the race issues to rest.
Why Is Mitt Romney Addressing the NAACP Convention?
What follows is the part I like best. Most liberal African-American activists are obsessively committed to the idea that race discrimination not only exists but is a huge barrier to advancement of black Americans. This idea, whether true or not, is their meal ticket, and they will never give it up, no matter what the facts may be. But Romney, rather than challenging the convention’s cherished belief head-on, shrewdly made it part of his appeal for African-American votes:
Romney highlighted the conflict of interest between the Democratic Party’s two most loyal constituents–African-Americans and teachers’ unions.

Playing the race card is so old. That card is so torn and dirty that it needs to go into the garbage.
Why Romney’s NAACP Speech Was One of the Smartest Political Moves of Our Time
“The president will say he will do those things, but he will not, he cannot, and his record of the last four years proves it,” Romney told the booing crowd. He added, “If you want a president who will make things better in the African American community, you are looking at him.”
Why would that crowd boo him? President Obama’s policies haven’t worked for them; Romney pointed out that African American unemployment just went up from 13.6% to 14.4% last month. Whatever Obama has done for them clearly hasn’t worked. They should have been cheering.
So what? Obama’s teleprompter has been telling him to tout the black hole mystery magical “Hope” and “Change” for going on five years now – where has that gotten us? Romney told the crowd what they’ve needed to hear.
The NAACP ended up giving Romney a standing ovation at the end of his speech. A standing ovation may not equate to votes, but it shows that people are responsive to strong leadership qualities. People want and need a leader that will say what should be said regardless of whether or not it is popular. He spoke to a group that he knew he couldn’t win over, remained strong on his stance to repeal ObamaCare, and branded himself as a ‘The Serious Adult’ candidate that will remain strong in the face of opposition. That’s exactly the kind of leadership this country needs right now, and this speech in the face of adversity may just turn out to be one of the smartest political moves we have seen in a very long time.

For Romney to go into a know group who are in love with Obama and get some applause is fantastic. Would Obama have the guts to go speak to this group and not pander to them.? No, he wouldn’t have the guts to do that. That is why this speech was one for the books.
