Tug McGraw, 1993 MLB All-Star Game interview for Channel 6, Actions News. I was in research of past MLB All Star Games and came across our beloved Tugger. My heart broke, tears dwelled in my eyes. Tug McGraw was taken from us too early in 2004 and died of brain cancer. I remember he was down in spring training camp with the team and he started to have headaches, discovered was brain tumors in Clearwater, FL.
Tug McGraw was part of the World Series team for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1980. Pitched the last ball as a closing pitcher against the KC Royals. The Phils were up 3-2 in the series. Tug pitched from the 7th to the 9th inning, unheard of in today’s specialized pitching rotation.
He is also was father of Country singer, Emmy award winner Tim McGraw.

R.I.P. Tug,
I didn’t know you were doing color for the All Star Team.
Thank you for all you did in baseball and the world.
I remember I danced in the dinner show Spellbound , you were siting at the front table Stage Left @ Encore dinner theater, in Glen Mills PA.
The Company manager always told us if there was celebrities in the audience. Would point you out to us before taking stage. We would preform with a extra spark, I did, looked right into you eyes and you looked up and smiled:-)
TY Tug.
PS Can you talk to the Big Man Upstairs, God and put a good word for the the 2012 Phillies? we need some relief pitchers ASAP.
Very, very nice post.
Thanks Sean, was poking around and saw this video. We do not have much tape of baseball game in the past. I will not hold it against you that you are a Braves fan,and that chant Just took 3 away from the Phils.
I remember that starting rotation of Maddux,Smoltz,,Avery, and Glavin. What ever happen to Avery, he was a left hander?
Can’t wait until the game tonight. ( the HR game was snoozeee fest last night)
Great!
