Philly Fox 29 reporter, Steve Keeley attacked by a snow plow.

I was viewing it live in HD early in the AM.  Steve was somewhere down in Salem County New Jersey covering our first snowfall in March. Steve usually reports the local news in South Jersey in the wee hours of the morning for Fox local Philly.

As you see Steve did not miss a beat.

Drive by The Cars,  Spellbound, Pulsations Nightclub, Glen Mills, PA

My first gig as a Professional dancer was at The Encore Dinner Theater in 1984, Production Spellbound, in Glenn Mills, PA.

After the last performance at 10 pm, it would one hour later, turn into Pulsations Nightclub.

The Pulsations Dancers would then perform.

Remembering Drive by the Cars as Rex, who is a Senior Lecturer, Theater Arts, @ The University of the Arts, Philadelphia, choreographed a production that will forever live in my mind. They used the same stage as the Spellbound Dancers.  The Encore Dinner theater held 850 people for dinner.  Pulsations, well lets say there was reckless abandonment.

At midnight the spaceship would make its way from the ceiling  in this 3-story nightclub and land on the dance floor. The robot, Pulsar was in a glass enclosed chamber. The robot would come out, talk, and interact with the crowd. The pumping bass speakers, risers, and  state of the art lighting were never duplicated at any nightclub I have ever hung out in.  When you are a  professional dancer and it off time, enter a nightclub, look out dance floor.  Canada to Bermuda, Las Vegas to New Orleans, Norway to Denmark, The City of Angels to New York City. St. Thomas to Puerto Rico.  You name it, was cutting edge in the after dark industry, way ahead of its time. Thanks to Barry,  Hey, where are you now Barry? You left Taylors in Cherry Hill, to go to Philly, Egypt or Shampoo Maybe, lost tract of your expertise.

I do not want to sound redundant, it was the best club in Philly area bar none!

Comfortably Numb, Roger Waters & David Gilmour, Live, London, 2011.

I wished I would have seen the original production of “The Wall” at the Spectrum in Philadelphia.   I was a  4-5th year full-time student at Temple University during the formative/passionate years of Classic Rock and Roll.  My sister-mother from Alpha Gamma Delta worked at 93.3 WMMRJoe Bonadonna,  was on air radio personality during the afternoon I believe Mark Goodman followed him. Joe gave me a not to be sold LP of “The Wall.”  Lots of brilliant rock and roll was exposed in Philly.  WMMR was located on the 2nd or 3rd floor overlooking Rittenhouse Square at 19th and Walnut Streets.

I hung out there during live broadcasts with friends from Temple..  Now, that I remember, that was totally awesome. But, back in the day no one was superficial. It was always a party. Music was the magic.

But through the power of the Internet, I can relive and research my days of future past.

BTW, can you tell I become inspired  upon brilliant guitar musicians.

Comfortably Numb, Composition, Wiki

According to Rolling Stone, the lyrics came from Roger Waters’ experience when he was injected with tranquilizers for stomach cramps by a doctor prior to playing a Pink Floyd show in Philadelphia on the band’s 1977 In the Flesh tour. “That was the longest two hours of my life,” Waters said, “trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm.” The experience gave him the idea which eventually became the lyrics to this song.

Philadelphia’s First Heat Wave Of 2013, That includes South Jersey too. I reside 10 miles east of the City.  My AC is leaking freon.  So, it is the fan tonight.  Woo is me.  Maybe cruise down the shore, Ship Bottom, Long Beach Island this weekend. It might be cooler down there. But it all depends on which way the wind direction is.

The Old Farmers Almanac

May 29-31: Sunny, hot.

Summer will be slightly warmer and drier than normal, with the hottest periods in mid- to late June, mid- and late July, and mid-August. The strongest threat of a tropical storm will be in early June.

 My Fox Philly Weather

PHILADELPHIA – Day 3 of the heat wave across the region Friday along with unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups. Temperatures this morning start near 70 degrees and warm into the low 90s.
Below: Me in the Logan Circle, Swann Fountain on a previous hot summer day. As a young child, I use to ride the El to Center City with a group of friends and to the Fountain we would cool off.
