Good Friday, The Crucifixion, A Day of Mourning

Catholic Culture

Today the whole Church mourns the death of our Savior. This is traditionally a day of sadness, spent in fasting and prayer. The title for this day varies in different parts of the world: “Holy Friday” for Latin nations, Slavs and Hungarians call it “Great Friday,” in Germany it is “Friday of Mourning,” and in Norway, it is “Long Friday.” Some view the term “Good Friday” (used in English and Dutch) as a corruption of the term “God’s Friday.” This is another obligatory day of fasting and abstinence. In Ireland, they practice the “black fast,” which is to consume nothing but black tea and water.

John 19:26-30

26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.

28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.” 29 A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

John 19:17-19

17 and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called The Place of a Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them. 19 Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.”

Phillies Fans’ Response to Dan Uggla’s Grand Slam.

Yes, I viewed this game.  Dom Brown hit a 3 run HR to go ahead in the 8th, 6-5.  Rosenberg  had just gave up 3 back to back HR’s in relief in the 8th.  No pitcher since 1914 had allowed home runs to the only three batters?

Papelbon wasn’t available to close since he pitched 3 previous games. Really, making $13M in 2014, can’t close? He only pitched 3 innings in 3 days. Enter Diekman. He loads the bases.

The Braves Uggla (the Phillie killer) hits a Grand Slam to ruin the Phillies win.

Braves 9-6.

Enough said, but this game hurt this Phillies fan. ( I was texting my cousin Marjorie during the 8th until the end of game, another die-hard)

Rollins Motivational Speech, The Anonymous Heckler, Saturday Night Vs. Marlins.

My cousin Marjorie and I was at the Friday Night Home game.  I was her guest in Section 110.  Marjorie is a dedicated Phillies fan.  She has gear from her head to her toes and even brought her glove.   The rain never came either.  We won but the stadium was half full.   Hey fans scream, we screamed.  But Saturday nights game I was viewing from my comfy sectional couch. Again, another half full CBP.  But the end of the game you’re talking 1/4 of fans.  Game was tied in the 10th.  J-Roll  hit the game winning home run beat the Miami Marlins 5-4. He then stated in the post game interview that a person in the stands was yelling at him.  That gave him the incentive to swing at a 2-2 pitch and nail it into the stands and his remarks to the fan after. ( You can read lips) Now remember, Rollins is in the dugout and voice came from the stands many rows above.  Rollins had to have his antenna’s up to hear what the fan said or was the fan heckling him numerous times during the game.  Yes, Rollins can hear correctly and so did the fan.

Rollins stated,

There was some fan in the stands popping off,” Rollins said. “He was right behind our dugout, close enough to yell and piss me off, honestly. It was something pretty ignorant, but it worked.”

BTW, the Fish were swept by the Phillies this weekend.

( Hey Marjorie,  I have the pics from the game, turned out great but I am under the weather at the present. Will upload them shortly.   Must have been all that excitement Friday night.)

Total Lunar Eclipse, Series of Four Blood Moons Beginning Apr 15, 2014.

Look up at the night sky April 15th. The US will be able to view the first total full lunar eclipse of 2014.. The first total lunar eclipse of 2014 will occur overnight on April 14-15, and mark the beginning of an eclipse tetrad – four back-to-back total lunar eclipses.

I have been speaking to people warning them about the full moon this month but did not know why.  Then, I just researched it.  It is that 6th sense again..  This full moon is having a very strong pull emotionally and physically on myself. Since 1 AD, this tetrad has occurred on these holy days a total of 7 times. In 2014-2015, it will be the 8th time. It won’t occur again for another 500 years.
