Koresh School of Dance, Instructor, Melissa Rector, Modern Jazz.
My spin class was cancelled at Fly Wheel Sports in Philadelphia due to air conditioning problems at 1521 Locust in Philadelphia yesterday. I was already in the city so I called Koresh School of Dance to see if Melissa Rector was teaching at 6pm. Fortunately, she was, I ventured to my love of movement once again, Modern Jazz.
Thank you Melissa for sharing dance/life with me once again. You still are fierce, methodically precise choreographer as when I left a few years ago. Roni is very lucky to have you still around. ” I do not want this movement to look like a competition, I want you to feel it from your soul, heart.” she exclaimed with a voice of stern expertise. “Take those socks off, this is Koresh.” I did not have socks on as I know better. By the way, no matter how great of shape you think you are in, a professional dance class is the true barometer of fitness. Yes, I still feel sore down to my toes twenty hours later. It is a good sore.
Below is Melissa Rector. Yes she is one of Philly’s Female Phenoms.

Martini’ s Fitness and Zumba Classes, South Jersey.
I had a blast today my dear friend. Back to back classes, like old times. Liam simmered down and became the little boy I know and love so 10 years later. See our children have grown up in gyms/movement babysitting spaces. But, you have a precious young man at eleven years as he listened or overhead every conversation. Did you notice Martini? I watched him lay right beside you while you taught. That is oh so special.
Now, it is time to spread your wings and fly. You can soar to great heights. Let yourself go. You got to go girl. You met John and the spaces in my gym, they are so beautiful. The people who work there are people persons which is very rare. The members are totally awesome. Come to my gym and take control, it is there. Go and run with it. It is really a special place. Did you hear that sound system in the spin room? That is my space. I showed you my bike. Please, teach there so I can have my Martini back . That is why I came to take your Zumba and fitness class last night. You have a gift. Now it is cultivated. Use it to the fullest extent. I forgot how awesome your workout classes are. Always inspired with that Irish flare. I envision you in Philadelphia, Yes, in the gym in the sky.Yes, the sky is the limit.You are awesome. As once again, God has blessed me. Thank you Dear Jesus.
Martini, you must remember I am a classically trained dancer from Temple University. Remember I have taken you to my teachers that have influenced my dance training in Philly, Melissa and Rex. I have studied dance and used gyms the past 50 years in New York City, Philly, Ottawa, Montreal, Boston, New Orleans, Las Vegas Los Angelos, Cocoa Beach and Bermuda. Always cross trained to make myself a stronger dancer. Ballet, Modern, and Jazz are my life’s passion. Plus Tap was my first art form. But I can do any form of movement. I discover new and innovative teachers, then I share!
That is who I am. I have been a teacher all my life but being a student, is much better! Because you learn again. Life is a continuous learning experience. I will never stop absorbing or acquiring knowledge.
All my love, Donna

Courage, Strength, Dance, and Heart.
I believe the decades, years, months, weeks, days, minutes and seconds I have devoted to dance training has given me the courage to overcome life’s obstacles.
Because of my belief in the Lord My God who gave me the talent to pursue my life’s dreams, my passion.
Psalm 27:1 ESV
- 27 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?

Drive by The Cars, Spellbound, Pulsations Nightclub, Glen Mills, PA
My first gig as a Professional dancer was at The Encore Dinner Theater in 1984, Production Spellbound, in Glenn Mills, PA.
After the last performance at 10 pm, it would one hour later, turn into Pulsations Nightclub.
The Pulsations Dancers would then perform.
Remembering Drive by the Cars as Rex, who is a Senior Lecturer, Theater Arts, @ The University of the Arts, Philadelphia, choreographed a production that will forever live in my mind. They used the same stage as the Spellbound Dancers. The Encore Dinner theater held 850 people for dinner. Pulsations, well lets say there was reckless abandonment.
At midnight the spaceship would make its way from the ceiling in this 3-story nightclub and land on the dance floor. The robot, Pulsar was in a glass enclosed chamber. The robot would come out, talk, and interact with the crowd. The pumping bass speakers, risers, and state of the art lighting were never duplicated at any nightclub I have ever hung out in. When you are a professional dancer and it off time, enter a nightclub, look out dance floor. Canada to Bermuda, Las Vegas to New Orleans, Norway to Denmark, The City of Angels to New York City. St. Thomas to Puerto Rico. You name it, was cutting edge in the after dark industry, way ahead of its time. Thanks to Barry, Hey, where are you now Barry? You left Taylors in Cherry Hill, to go to Philly, Egypt or Shampoo Maybe, lost tract of your expertise.
I do not want to sound redundant, it was the best club in Philly area bar none!
