US Soccer star Abby Wambach gets sucker punched in the eye by Colombian opponent. Despite her black eye, the 32-year-old striker went on in the second half to score a goal and break the U.S. women’s soccer record for goals at the Olympics with a tally of six
The US won 3-0 over Colombia.

London 2012 Olympic flame ‘goes out’ as cauldron is moved. It is supposed to burn throughout the entire Olympics until the end. But witnesses saw it go out at 11:14 pm Sunday. Olympic organizers have now confirmed it was extinguished to allow staff to move the cauldron to another part of the venue over the weekend. The final position of the cauldron has already attracted some criticism after it was disclosed it would not be visible outside the stadium.
Was it moved because of safety (winds) or that people who didn’t have tickets could view the flame?
Jackie Brock-Doyle, director of communications for the London Olympics organizers implied,
The cauldron has been put out while we move it to another part of the stadium.”
It is not uncommon for a flame to go out and this can happen for a number of reasons, for example, in extreme winds.”
We keep the mother flame alight in specially designed miners’ lanterns so if the flame does go out for some reason we re-light it from the source of the flame.”

London Olympics: July 30. It’s an exciting day as swimming qualifying heats, men’s cycling, beach volleyball, with some high-profile team sports continuing their preliminary rounds and some big events heading for the medal stand, such as men’s team gymnastics.

London Olympics: USA gymnast’s Parents Aly Raisman’s reactions during competition. NBC has decided to now give the viewer a personal perspective. I thought it was fantastic.
Aly Raisman received one of the only two all around competition spots during the qualifying events Sunday. That means this US gymnast score will be able to compete in all four events for a medal contention.
Only two competitors from any one nation can compete in an event final, and Raisman finished 0.025 points higher than her other teammates.
