Dirty Dancing – Hungry Eyes (with Lyrics of the Song) HQ.

I needed something happy to listen and watch today.

Patrick Swayze took my heart in the 80’s. God rest his soul.  I began my professional dance career in 1984. My friend Rex who was a master in Adagio, could give Swayze a run for the money though. Yes, Rex was that hot. Rex was the first ballet scholarship at the college of the Performing arts, Philadelphia, in the 1980’s. Rex was compared to Mikhail Baryshnikov.  I remember my first lift on the dance floor in Carney’s after the performance at Pulsations. ” Donna, just run to me, push-off, grab my wrists and arch.”  I replied, “Rex we are on the dance floor?”  Rex said, “Just do it.”  It was very easy as I did acrobatics and ballet as a young child.  My first bird was born. Yes, they do the same lift in the movie.

Then Rex and I took it to the shore in Longport, New Jersey.  I learned many lifts that he did with his sister Lori.

Yes, I did have the time of my life with Rex! That is another story yet to be told.

You can download the movie HERE!

My City Of Ruins- Bruce Springsteen

Good ol’ Bruce, You can always pick a song, listen and apply the words to it in your life’s moments.

The last time I saw Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band was at JFK Stadium, Philadelphia Amnesty International’s Human Rights Now concert in 1988.  It included Sting, Peter Gabriel,Tracy Chapman, Youssou N’Dour and Joan Baez.  I was working at One on One Sports Training Center and Larry Magid provided tickets for a dozen of the staff as he was Mike Wood’s client.   I took my son who was six months old at the time in a front carrier papoose sling,

I had earplugs for my son but I remember him waking up to Bruce singing.

Those were the days back in Philly. My recollection is vivid as I remember sitting to the seats stage left.  There wasn’t a bad seat in JFK though.

Let us all Rise Up Now.  Below is Bruce singing in Philadelphia, September 3 2012, about the empty space, value of life, preciousness of time and necessity of love as you get older. I just got the goose bumps. I picked this video for a reason.

You can read the lyrics Here.

Cliff Lee, MLB,, Philadelphia Phillies and Stranglehold by Ted Nugent?

Was I hearing correctly during today’s broadcast of the Phillies and the Brewers? As this is my Sunday ritual, viewing the Phillies and hanging around the house.

Cliff Lee was on the mound today as the starting pitcher. When he batted, “Stranglehold” came on. “Stranglehold” Lyrics Click Link

Seems there is a playlist of music hand-picked  by each player that comes to bat at Citizens Bank Park. Some players have multiple.  I knew that Chase Utley played Kashmir by Zeppelin, but now the entire team has their tunes.   Click Link to view the Play list, quite extensive.

I turned to my son is disbelief and showed him the playlist. He commented, “Really, they play a children’s game Really? He played little league T ball @ 5 years, minors, Double AA,  Triple AAA then majors at 11-12yrs at Cherry Hill National and Cherry Hill Babe Ruth 13- 14 years. He as well is an avid sports fan.

I asked, “If you were a Pro baseball Player what music would you bat to?”  “Nyan Cat, the Techo Cat.” What, please explain.” “No one would take me seriously and I would screw with the pitchers head.. They would show a continuous loop on the screen at Citizen Bank Park.” He showed me the video below. Wow. I did not know the world of Nyan Cat as the video as over 94 million hits.  Incredible.

Myself, I would still stick to Rock and Roll.

BTW,  Phillies won 7-5.  You go Cliff Lee. Keep playing  “Stranglehold.” Please, stay in Philly. Trade rumors up already.

Comfortably Numb, Roger Waters & David Gilmour, Live, London, 2011.

I wished I would have seen the original production of “The Wall” at the Spectrum in Philadelphia.   I was a  4-5th year full-time student at Temple University during the formative/passionate years of Classic Rock and Roll.  My sister-mother from Alpha Gamma Delta worked at 93.3 WMMRJoe Bonadonna,  was on air radio personality during the afternoon I believe Mark Goodman followed him. Joe gave me a not to be sold LP of “The Wall.”  Lots of brilliant rock and roll was exposed in Philly.  WMMR was located on the 2nd or 3rd floor overlooking Rittenhouse Square at 19th and Walnut Streets.

I hung out there during live broadcasts with friends from Temple..  Now, that I remember, that was totally awesome. But, back in the day no one was superficial. It was always a party. Music was the magic.

But through the power of the Internet, I can relive and research my days of future past.

BTW, can you tell I become inspired  upon brilliant guitar musicians.

Comfortably Numb, Composition, Wiki

According to Rolling Stone, the lyrics came from Roger Waters’ experience when he was injected with tranquilizers for stomach cramps by a doctor prior to playing a Pink Floyd show in Philadelphia on the band’s 1977 In the Flesh tour. “That was the longest two hours of my life,” Waters said, “trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm.” The experience gave him the idea which eventually became the lyrics to this song.
