Anonymous attacks UK government websites to protest Assange-case. Hackers have targeted British government websites in the last 24 hours, the government said on Tuesday, after activist hacking group Anonymous said it had launched attacks to protest against the handling of the case of WikiLeaks‘ founder Julian Assange.
All the websites appeared to be functioning normally on Tuesday. Anonymous, a loose-knit group of international hackers, suggested it was behind the attacks which it linked to the Assange case.
Downing Street was dismissive of the incident.
There may have been an attempt but as far as we are concerned it was unsuccessful,”

Ecuador president warns UK not to enter embassy to seize Julian Assange
Rafael Correa says it would be ‘suicidal’ for Britain to enter diplomatic premises to arrest WikiLeaks founder
The Ecuadorean president has warned Britain not to attempt to enter his country’s embassy in London to seize Julian Assange, claiming that to do so would be an act of political suicide that would leave the UK’s diplomatic premises vulnerable the world over.
“I think it would be suicidal for the United Kingdom,” he said, according to the Spanish news agency Efe. “After that, the diplomatic premises of [the UK] in other territories could be violated all over the world.” Such a move, he added, would be “disastrous” for all countries, but especially for Britain.

UPDATE 5-Assange berates United States from Ecuador Embassy balcony
Assange uses embassy balcony for speech to avoid arrest
* Assange calls on Obama to free suspect Bradley Manning
* British police cover all exits from London Embassy
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange berated the United States on Sunday from the balcony of the Ecuadorean Embassy where he has sought refuge from arrest, demanding President Barack Obama end what he called a witch-hunt against his whistle-blowing website.
Speaking from within the London mission to avoid being detained by British police who want to extradite him to Sweden for questioning over rape allegations, Assange said the United States was fighting a war against outlets like WikiLeaks.
