US jobless claim rises again. The Labor department reported an increased by 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 365,000 in the week ended July 28, 2012. Also, factory orders unexpectedly fell in June, the latest sign that the slowing economy is sapping demand. July’s payroll report is released tomorrow.

Billions of dollars from the U.S. Military are on the chopping block.
Congressman Adam Smith said the purpose of the law was to force Congress to find a solution not to fall back on what is viewed by many as an unimaginable last resort.
“It’s a terrible idea, horrible policy,” said Smith. “It was only meant as a forcing mechanism it was going to be so awful, so hideous that everyone would have to get together and agree to prevent it. ”
The office of management and budget says military personnel would be exempt from the cuts.

Obama Administration ‘Doesn’t Want All These Pink Slips Going Out 5 Days Before Election’
President Obama is trying to prevent thousands of layoff notices from going out a few days before the November election, Sen. Jame Inhofe (R-Okla.) said on Tuesday.
Obama’s Labor Department on Monday issued “guidance” to the states, telling them that a federal law requiring advance notice of mass layoffs does not apply to the layoffs that may occur in January as a result of automatic budget cuts known as “sequestration.”
Inhofe, appearing on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning, said President Obama, through his Labor Department, “is trying to intimidate businesses, companies, corporations — not just defense contractors — into not issuing the pink slips,” which are required by federal law 60 days before mass layoffs or plant closings.

‘All Important’ July 2012 Jobs Report, Unemployment Increases to 8.3%
The all important July 2012 jobs report from the Labor Department is out today and shows the national unemployment rate increasing to 8.3%. This is the ′U-3′ number from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The broader ′U-6′ unemployment rate also increased to 15% from June′s 14.9%
