Let The Fire Burn: MOVE and The City of Philadelphia.

This day I took a dance class at the Jazz Dance Center at 2020 Samson Street in the afternoon.  I remember I came out of the studio and looked up and saw dark black smoke coming from West Philly.  I drove home to Roxbough and turned on the TV.  Mayor Goode had decided to drop a bomb the new location of MOVE on Osage Avenue. Sixty-one homes were destroyed by the six-alarm blaze, one of the largest in the city’s history.

I was a Temple University undergraduate student when  the MOVE commune started their terrorism for over a decade.  Mayor Rizzo took MOVE out of Powelton Village area after they had shot a cop dead, officer James Ramp.

I will defiantly view this film since it is a part of Philadelphia’s history that I lived through. Then, I will write my review.

Witness to shooting describes the scene remarked,

Two males approached (Walker), one of which had a gun, a robbery was announced and he demanded money,” Clark said. “During this time, the officer attempted to pull out his off-duty weapon … one of the males fired, striking him three times: once in the chest, once in the stomach and once in the hand.”
