Psalms for Hope: Psalm 121:7-8, Psalm 42:11

Psalm 121:7-8

The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Psalm 42:11

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.

Hope is a small word, but it is one of the most powerful. Why? Because in hope lies the power of the human soul to turn to God and live as if His promises are going to come true.

Hope is for now, it is for today, and it is for tomorrow too.

All Souls’ Day, November 2, Pray for the Dead

2 Maccabees 12:44-45

44 For had he not expected the fallen to rise again, it would have been superfluous and foolish to pray for the dead,

45 whereas if he had in view the splendid recompense reserved for those who make a pious end, the thought was holy and devout. Hence, he had this expiatory sacrifice offered for the dead, so that they might be released from their sin.

Roman Martyrology

“On this day is observed the commemoration of the faithful departed, in which our common and pious Mother the Church, immediately after having endeavored to celebrate by worthy praise all her children who already rejoice in heaven, strives to aid by her powerful intercession with Christ, her Lord and Spouse, all those who still groan in purgatory, so that they may join as soon as possible the inhabitants of the heavenly city.”

1 John 5:1-5

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God

Ephesians 5:8

for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

How Strong Is Your Faith? James 1:2-8

James 1:2-8

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Peace Gives The Lord: John 14:27

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 29:11

The Lord gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.

Dear Lord,

Father I come before You today as I feel weighed down by the increasing numbers of burdens and battles, stresses and strains that seem to be building up in my life.

Enable me to rest beside Your still waters of refreshment and sleep in Your arms of comfort give me I pray that peace – that perfect peace that only flows from You to those that have their mind stayed on You. Keep my heart and mind focused on Jesus I pray and help me not to be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication making my requests known to You – with a thankful heart. In this I pray, Amen

2 John 1:3 Grace, mercy, and peace.:
