St. Theresa, Novena to the Little Flower of Lung Ailments.

I was a Freshman in High school, 9th grade only at Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls. I was researching as a Dear Friend, Bill has complication due to his lung transplant. Little did I know that the Patron Saint for Lung ailments is Saint Therese, “The Little Flower”!

She loved flowers and saw herself as the “little flower of Jesus,” who gave glory to God by just being her beautiful little self among all the other flowers in God’s garden. Because of this beautiful analogy, the title “little flower” remained with St. Therese.

Her inspiration and powerful presence from heaven touched many people very quickly. She was canonized by Pope Pius XI on May 17, 1925. Had she lived, she would have been only 52 years old when she was declared a Saint.

photorosesbnws“My mission – to make God loved – will begin after my death,” she said. “I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses.” Roses have been described and experienced as Saint Therese’s signature. Countless millions have been touched by her intercession and imitate her “little way.” She has been acclaimed “the greatest saint of modern times.” In 1997, Pope John Paul II declared St. Therese a Doctor of the Church – the only Doctor of his pontificate – in tribute to the powerful way her spirituality has influenced people all over the world.

Please say a Prayer for my Friend Bill who is and Lung Transplant Recipient. He has complications now, as him and I are comparing notes. Yes, Please say a prayer for me also! Thank you so!

Pink Floyd: The Great Gig In The Sky.

My Dearest Friend Angelo, brilliant DJ, reminded me of the times we shared this song together. He inspired my improvisational dance career in South Jersey. I was feeling blue and he told me I owned this song when performed. Deep emotional feelings surface down to my heart and inner soul.

Pink Floyd keyboard player Rick Wright, wrote this song, which is about life, gradually descending into death. Hence the angrier and more intense first half with a dying person refusing to “go gently into that good night.”The second half is gentler, as the dying person gives into the inevitable and fades away. In the March 1998 issue of Mojo, Wright explained: “For me, one of the pressures of being in the band was this constant fear of dying because of all the traveling we were doing in planes and on the motorways in America and in Europe.”

A Prayer For Our Nation, America.

O Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, at this most critical time, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care.

Most Holy Mother, we beg you to reclaim this land for the glory of your Son. Overwhelmed with the burden of the sins of our nation, we cry to you from the depths of our hearts and seek refuge in your motherly protection.

Look down with mercy upon us and touch the hearts of our people. Open our minds to the great worth of human life and to the responsibilities that go with human freedom.

Free us from the falsehoods that lead to the evil of abortion and threaten the sanctity of family life.  Grant our country the wisdom to proclaim that God’s law is the foundation on which this nation was founded, and that He alone is the True Source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

O Merciful Mother, give us the courage to reject the culture of death and the strength to build a new Culture of Life.  In this I pray, Amen.

Protect Your Eyes, Have Fun In The Sun. #National Sunglasses Day.

I viewed this on the Tube this AM, Trending on Twitter today. But is also a time to remind people the reasons why you should be wearing Sunglasses.  I am from the baby boomer generation. We were not educated in the harmful rays of the sun.  Baby oil and a burn were your initial sunbathing rules in the 60’s at the Seashore of the Northeast in Philly, Playland and Boulevard Pools. No sunglasses either. As a single digit jock in Kensington, McVeigh Recreation Center was one of my frequent playgrounds as it had a pool, the Swimo.  My Grandmom and Uncle Emil lived across the Street and my Aunt Sue, Uncle George, cousins Georgie and Marjorie, one block away.  Going down memory lane here. It was a wonderful neighborhood to grow up as a child. Also, Holiday Lake, Burlington county NJ, Took the bus from Philly.

Below I have also included the music video, Sunglasses At Night. Enjoy.
