How about security at schools, at entrances? Hire people Security Guards at all schools.
Also had two Philadelphia Police officers paid.
I taught were they chained the other entrances beside the main one, Not legal but safe.
I felt safe.
The evil people will always be able to get a gun illegally.

Report: Massacre Perpetrator Had Asperger Syndrome, Personality Disorder
According to ABC News, Ryan Lanza, the older brother of 20-year-old Connecticut school massacre perpetrator Adam Lanza, has told police that his brother has Asperger Syndrome and another “personality disorder.” ABC News reports:
Neighbors described the younger man to ABC as “odd” and displaying characteristics associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Adam was found dead in the school. So was his mother, who taught kindergarten at Sandy Brook Elementary.

Autism Spectrum Disorders
Asperger’s Syndrome – Symptoms
Not pick up on social cues and may lack inborn social skills, such as being able to read others’ body language, start or maintain a conversation, and take turns talking.
Dislike any changes in routines.
Appear to lack empathy.
Be unable to recognize subtle differences in speech tone, pitch, and accent that alter the meaning of others? speech. So your child may not understand a joke or may take a sarcastic comment literally. And his or her speech may be flat and hard to understand because it lacks tone, pitch, and accent.
Have a formal style of speaking that is advanced for his or her age. For example, the child may use the word “beckon” instead of “call” or the word “return” instead of “come back.”
Avoid eye contact or stare at others.
Have unusual facial expressions or postures.
Be preoccupied with only one or few interests, which he or she may be very knowledgeable about. Many children with Asperger’s syndrome are overly interested in parts of a whole or in unusual activities, such as designing houses, drawing highly detailed scenes, or studying astronomy. They may show an unusual interest in certain topics such as snakes, names of stars, or dinosaurs.
Talk a lot, usually about a favorite subject. One-sided conversations are common. Internal thoughts are often verbalized.
Have delayed motor development. Your child may be late in learning to use a fork or spoon, ride a bike, or catch a ball. He or she may have an awkward walk. Handwriting is often poor.
Have heightened sensitivity and become overstimulated by loud noises, lights, or strong tastes or textures. For more information about these symptoms, see sensory processing disorder.
A child with one or two of these symptoms does not necessarily have Asperger?s syndrome. To be diagnosed with Asperger?s syndrome, a child must have a combination of these symptoms and significant trouble with social situations.
Although the condition is in some ways similar to autism, a child with Asperger’s syndrome typically has normal language and intellectual development. Also, those with Asperger’s syndrome typically make more of an effort than those with autism to make friends and engage in activities with others.

I am a mother with Asperger syndrome. I am horrified at the killings. I am the mother of a child who is the same age as the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings. Since most of us, whether Autistic or with a developmental disability or with mental health conditions (the two are NOT the same) are not mass killers, ultimately it won’t matter what he “had,” since most people who “have” it are not violent like this. It is not appropriate to stigmatize an entire group of people based on what one person has done, anymore than we can say all non-disabled people are killers just because of the actions of a few. I have written more about the shootings and the damaging effects of media and general public stereotyping of us here: http://paulacdurbinwestbyautisticblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/mother-with-asperger-syndrome-grieves.html
Investigators say they now believe the killing spree began at the home Lanza shared with his mother, who was a kindergarten teacher at the school.
CBS correspondent John Miller reports that Adam had the bigger personality of the two brothers. Ryan, 24, was the quiet one, went to business school and lived in New Jersey. Investigators believe that this shooting was the result of a conflict between he and his mother that was developing for a long time — killing her and then killing what she loved most — her students.

Hi Paula C. Durbin-Westby.
Thank you for your link. and conveying your message. The MSM always tries to find a reason. I believe we all want to know what made him snap.
there is a horrific fear, but it raises many questions.
My son attended Middle School during Columbine ( as the make pretend bomb threats ensued for years but they had to evacuate the school every time) and 9/11. as I live 70 miles south of NYC
in New Jersey. That was a day that will mark our nation forever. He has now graduated from a private University.
Re; students with special needs. I am at a lost. I never taught in the realm/spectrum. to these students that are mainstreamed now.
The larger picture that need to be addressed is mental illness and how America has failed to provide necessary treatments to its citizens. (psychotic, paranoid ect)
We must identify these people. not turn our backs any longer.
It was very difficult for me to write a post on this horrific tragedy as I will still revise in the coming days as information becomes available.
Again thank you for writing on this post, providing valuable information.
I am going to link up your blog to mine on sidebar.
Sincerely,

Report: Connecticut Shooting Was Revenge Killing
the report suggests that the killings were carried out in an act of revenge.
Other reports indicate that Lanza “visited Sandy Hook Elementary the day before [the shooting] and was involved in an altercation with four members of the staff of the school.” Three of those four are now dead.

This is the trigger! Bright child that the child study team deemed had a disorder, then home schooled, divorced parents, guns not locked in home.
But his unassuming Mother did not know her son was going to be a calculated Mass murderer.
Seems she was in denial.
Connecticut school shooting: Adam Lanza was ‘very bright’ but battled school authorities, says his aunt
Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old who killed his mother and 26 people at a primary school in Connecticut, was “very, very bright”, his aunt claimed as she disclosed his mother had chosen to home school him after “battling” education authorities.
“This was a deeply disturbed kid,” a family insider said. “He certainly had major issues. He was subject to outbursts from what I recall.”
A further family friend said he had acted as though he was immune to pain.
“A few years ago when he was on the baseball team, everyone had to be careful that he didn’t fall because he could get hurt and not feel it,” said the friend. “Adam had a lot of mental problems.”
Divorce proceeding
Mr Lanza agreed to pay $240,000 (£148,400) annually to his ex-wife, and Mrs Lanza appeared to live in comfort with Adam. There was also suggestions that she was unable to work.
“She needed to be home with Adam,” one family insider said.
Marsha Lanza, aunt to the boys, described Mrs Lanza as a good mother and kind-hearted. Mrs Lanza would host games of dice, or else venture out to visit her neighbours for a glass of wine. The home was immaculate; the swimming pool behind the house well maintained.
But Mrs Lanza was also, according to friends, an avid gun collector.
Dan Holmes, owner of a Connecticut landscaping firm, said Mrs Lanza once showed him a “high-end rifle” that she had purchased, adding, “She said she would often go target shooting with her kids”.
The gun used to shoot Mrs Lanza was her own.
