The Demise Of The Twinkie: Hostess Files Motion To Liquidate Liberal Unions Rejoice. But the former employees can land on unemployment, section 8, SNAP food stamps, and Obamacare. Union bosses still receive their Christmas bonuses.
I am trying to keep a running tally of the jobs lost since the reelection of Hussein. But I never ate Twinkies, I am a Philly Tastykake person.
CEO Gregory F. Rayburn in a statement,
Despite everyone’s considerable efforts to move Hostess out of its restructuring, when we began implementing the Company’s last, best and final offer, the Bakers Union chose to stage a crippling strike. This affected Hostess’ ability to continue to make products and service its customers’ needs and pushed Hostess into a Wind Down scenario. As a result, we are forced to proceed with an orderly wind down and sale of our operations and assets. We deeply regret taking this action. But we simply cannot continue to operate without the ability to produce or deliver our products.
There’s no way to soften the fact that this will hurt every Hostess Brands employee. All Hostess Brands employees will eventually lose their jobs – some sooner than others. Unfortunately, because we are in bankruptcy, there are severe limits on the assistance the Company can offer you at this time.
The liquidation would result in Hostess’ nearly 18,000 workers losing their jobs. The bakers’ union represents around 5,000.
They have a plant in Philly, So the company called the Union strikers bluff.
Only 26 weeks of unemployment, but the Union bosses collect their cash.
How about the repercussions of the businesses that feed off the workers, the diners, shops surrounding the plants?
the liberals way of life. 🙂
Hostess To Close, Cites Nationwide Worker Strike
Hostess, the maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread, plans to go out of business, lay off its 18,500 workers and sell its snack cake and bread brands.
The Irving, Texas, company said a nationwide strike crippled its ability to make and deliver its products, which also include Ding Dongs, Ho Ho’s and Home Pride bread.
Hostess suspended bakery operations at all its factories and said its stores will remain open for several days to sell already-baked products.

I wrote and thanked Hostess for sticking to their guns. They didn’t flinch like the Union though they would. Now what do all those bakers do not making dough!
With Hostess shutdown, boxes of Twinkies, Ho Hos going for $100 and more on eBay
The description on the item (read as urgently as if you were reading the Titanic disaster telegram): “HOSTESS IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SO GET THESE WHILE YOU CAN. STORES ARE ALREADY SEEING THESE FLY OFF THE SHELVES AND SOON YOU WILL PAY A PREMIUM FOR THESE.”
A box of Ho Hos is being sold for $59.99, while a 48-pack of Zingers is going for $43.
One trickster claims to have “the last Twinkie in the heartland” and the single dessert has a starting bid of $50, but you can buy it right now for $5,235.
Other sellers are taking more modest approaches with starting bids from $11 to $15.
The best eBay listing so far comes from a seller who wants to give away his last 10-count box of Twinkies for $595 – but there’s a catch: There are only four cakes left because the seller “got into them this morning.” But how can you go wrong with an expiration date of 12-02-2057?

I haven’t eatten Twinkies in years. I will buy some if I can find any. May they RIP. Maybe Romney will buy the company and move it to a right to work state! That would be fantastic!
What Christie Isn’t Saying: ‘Twinkies’
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie prides himself on his ability to go off script. But when reporters asked him about the possible closure of a Hostess factory in Wayne, New Jersey, he took a different tack: get ‘em laughing.
When a reporter from CBS 880 AM asked him about the company’s impending bankruptcy, Christie said he couldn’t hear. When pressed about “the company that makes Twinkies,” Christie said he strategically didn’t want to even say the word, referring to Americas favorite cream-filled sponge cake.
