Serena Williams wins tennis gold, but US Flag flew away, is not there during National Anthem Olympic Podium Ceremony. I just watched this, I can’t believe my eyes but it is true. It was windy at the Stadium and Serena Williams grand slam won her first Olympic Gold did not have the US flag present during her gold medal podium ceremony at the London Olympic Games. That left the flags of Belarus (bronze medalist Victoria Azarenka) and Russia (Sharapova) dangling above the medal podium.
But, the music played but no Old Glory was not present. The announcers made light of it during the broadcast. I do not think it is funny.
Disgrace! IOC or London Olympic officials apology please!

I watched the match, Serena wanted it badly. she was great!
Then this, and the announcers make lightly of this.
They should place the US flag back up and redo the entire ceremony.
This American is Pissed!
I have to agree with you on this one. These Olympics were just awful. I didn’t watch any of it on TV, because of all the crap that I heard on line that went on. I think they could have had all the venues filled. I don’t know why any country would really want to have these games, just the security is a nightmare.
Whatever ppl do not care, especially the tennis crowd.
The Tennis was great, she won a grand slam. Then , this No Flag?
This comes down to the International Olympic committee. I know the tennis players are set for life but, NO FLAG,
sent it into deadspin and Breibart see if they will cover it. I am not holding my breath.
It is very sad that they didn’t do a redo.
Oh the flag got excited and flew away! Does it matter any longer?
Does NBC air every medal presentation that the US is involved it?
NBC is a has been station.
Surprised no one commented on Williams behavior during the anthem. She did not show any respect for what the anthem means.
I agree, no respect at all. All other our Champions were proud to bring their GOLD to the USA.
I was appalled also. I would have thought she would have had enough respect to at least place her hand over her heart.
Oh yes there were comments. I held mine back. Here it is!
Before there was the crip walk.
I know she did not place her hand over her heart and recite the anthem,
But I think b/c ‘the flag was still there” took her off guard. I could not see the replay until now

That little “shrug” when she saw the flag blowing away. Remind me of the Moosechel’s quote. (link below).
