Pence and Victorino trade is a done deal. This means the Phillies management in giving up on the 2012 season with the Phillies behind 14 games in the cellar of the NL East. When you have 3 starting pitchers making over $20 million each, is it time to replenish the outfield now?
Pitcher Joe Blanton is only a 2 month rental. Baltimore is not biting before the 4pm trade deadline.
My question, who will the Phillies get in off-season to cover the left corner of third base?

Cole Hamels 28, Philadelphia’s new $144 million dollar man. Cole has decided his families future and signed a new 6 year $144 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. It now has stopped him into perusing the free agent market as the LA Dodgers were eying the prey with money that is flowing in their organization. It’s the largest contract signed by a Philadelphia athlete and second-highest for a pitcher behind the $161 million deal the New York Yankees gave CC Sabathia in December 2008. He will be hanging around with Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee for a few more years. Not bad company to have as your coworkers. There is Carlos Ruiz as your attentive catcher. ( My personal favorite Phillie)
Cole Hamels was the MVP of the Philadelphia Phillies World Series team member in 2008 and voted a three time All Star.
Being a former professional athletes wife, I believe it came down to Mrs. Hamels decision. Since she is the veteran pitcher’s wife. No one ever writes or cites that angle. Everyone thinks it is all about the money. It is about the family. You do not think he talked about this life changing decision with his better half? The Hamels family also has many charities and various foundations that they are involved within the area.
This Phillie’s fan is elated over the news. As I drove this morning and tuned into a local sports radio station, WIP the news broke. Then, I proceeded to my athletic yoga class at 9:30am at Future Fitness in Cherry Hill, NJ. I was hyped and excited today and Lucy my diva instructor (and she is the bomb) was surprised and commented. Love the heated room and the 9:30 crowd is a blast as we sweat profusely and breath heavily all in the name of personal fitness.
Cole was born December 12, 1983.
Let us look at the many faces of Cole Hamels. A fashion model, a MLB professional pitcher, a daddy and a husband. I love the daddy picture.
Congratulations Cole Hamels and family.
