In New Jersey, temporary housing in the form of mobile homes ready for families Sandy victims. A parking lot at Six Flags in Jackson is serving as a staging area for mobile homes  Currently, the 40 units are composed of one and two-bedroom homes, with 10 additional, three-bedroom units being delivered shortly. They would be available up to 18 months to commercial parks with vacant pads, it is being reported.

FEMA Housing Supervisor Donna Weise said,

Most the houses here are for home owners who are currently rebuilding their primary residences.  The homes will be deployed depending on where the need is, and right now the greatest need is in Monmouth and Ocean. (counties). Most of the people who will be identified for these will be homeowners that are rebuilding their damaged dwelling.”

Steve Minnick, FEMA’s federal staging unit lead, said,

What these offer are basic needs. It’s everything you need to get going after a disaster.”

Feds may put up FEMA trailers in New York for Sandy victims.

Fralinger String Band waits to enter the warehouse that was engulfed in a four alarm fire at 2nd and Wharton, Philadelphia, PA. People are extending their help as the Mummers Parade is on New Years Day, 2013.

Thomas D’Amore, 24, the captain said,

Fralinger will never back down from a challenge. Unfortunately, this is the first year we’ve rented this spot. The thing that hurts the most was that this is a hobby for the guys who are 9-to-5 blue-collar, so what was lost was all their free time they put in.”

Steve Coper, chairman and business manager of Fralinger replied,

It’s all of our props for New Year’s Day, most of which have been completed. So, if it’s a total loss, it’s very devastating,”

New Jessey Governor Chris Christie nominated 2 to state Supreme Court. New Jersey Supreme Court could see the first Asian-American on the state’s highest court if confirmed by the state Senate.  Both men have already been confirmed once by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

David Bauman 56, of Holmdel, who was born in Japan and immigrated to the United States at age 3, is the presiding judge for the civil division of the Superior Court in Monmouth County. He is the son of a Japanese mother and an American father of German and Irish heritage who was serving in the U.S. Navy.

Robert Hanna, 54, of Madison. Now, the president of the Board of Public Utilities that oversees the state’s regulated utilities, were nominated to fill two vacancies on the seven-member court that could be called on to decide such weighty cases as public school funding and gay marriage.

Christie said,

I’ve got lots of Democrats in my administration as well, and they don’t automatically because Republicans just because I nominate them to something. And I worked with a lot of people in the U.S. Attorney’s Office who were both Republicans, Democrats and independents. If you talk to anybody in the United States Attorney’s Office who served at the same time Bob and I did — in fact, I spoke to one of them this morning who told me there was no one in his experience that relished disagreeing with me more than Bob Hanna. He has kept that personality streak through the last three years. You are what you say you are, not what other people say you are.”

Four alarm fire at the Fralinger String Band Mummers warehouse fire, located on the 1300 block of South 2nd Street, Philadelphia, PA. This is where the award-winning string band stores their equipment. The costumes are not stored in the building however. They were to be use bring in the New Year January 1st.

Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton to testify in open hearing on deadly Benghazi, Libya consulate attack that killed four Americans including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs said,

I have just received confirmation from Secretary Clinton’s office that the Secretary of State will appear before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs to discuss, in an open hearing, the findings and recommendations in the report from the accountability review board (ARB) concerning the terrorist attack against our diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya.’

As we anticipate the release of the ARB report, I look forward to discussing with the Secretary what corrective measures has the Department undertaken to address problems identified in the months following the Benghazi attack, including security of our posts, threat assessments, host government responsibilities, and coordination with other U.S. security agencies.”
