In New Jersey, Distracted Driving Will Cost You Cash.
Oh my, no more eating, drinking coffee or putting on make -up while your driving in New Jersey. April is distracted driving awareness month. Beware drivers.
Just another shakedown like the red light cameras that give you a ticket for not stopping long enough to make a right turn on red, not going through a red light. I already received 2 tickets @ $85 per ticket. When you log into the site to view your citation received in the mail, 3 videos pop up. I live near the famous and meanest red light camera that takes everyone hostage . The camera logged more traffic citations than any other in the state.
I do believe the texting/talking on cell phones while driving issue needs to be addressed severely. You can tell who is swaying to and from on the road when you are driving. If someone calls or texts me, I do pull over.
Please drivers wait until you can stop and pull over. Nothing can be more important than saving lives.
Police in Paramus, N.J., are out in force as part of a new statewide distracted driving crackdown.
We rode along with Officer John Henderson, who checked drivers on Route 17. He pulled over a man he spotted talking on his phone. The man got a $130 ticket.
But that’s not the only action considered distracted driving. Texting, eating and drinking, putting on makeup, checking laptops and tablets, and watching movies; police here have seen it all.
The heavy crackdown will continue for three weeks. After that, police will still issue tickets but they’re hoping drivers will change their bad habits before the fines double this summer.
