Unemployment claims hit four-month high: increase 46K to 388K. Jobless claims increased by 46,000 to 388,000 in the week ended Oct. 13 from a revised 342,000 the prior period the Labor Department figures showed today in Washington.

The Republican National Committee releases “Smirk” after the first presidential debate. Governor Romney laid out a clear plan to create jobs and get the middle class back to economic prosperity and President Obama who was visibly angry couldn’t explain his failed policies that have left 23 million people looking for work.

August unemployment rate at 8.1%.
Mitt Romney claimed,
For every net new job created, nearly four Americans gave up looking for work entirely. This is more of the same for middle class families who are suffering through the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression. After 43 straight months of unemployment above 8 percent, it is clear that President Obama just hasn’t lived up to his promises and his policies haven’t worked. We aren’t better off than they were four years ago.”

US jobless claim rises again. The Labor department reported an increased by 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 365,000 in the week ended July 28, 2012. Also, factory orders unexpectedly fell in June, the latest sign that the slowing economy is sapping demand. July’s payroll report is released tomorrow.

Crossroads GPS: “Tried” The outside spending group Crossroads GPS launched a new television ad Thursday July 12, accusing President Obama of supporting failed economic policies and calling on him to reduce the federal debt.
The commercial from the GOP-affiliated group, “Tried,” is being used in an $8 million ad buy set to run in the swing states of Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia over the next week.
