6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people
No matter who signs your paycheck, you are really working for God.
The Assumption of the Virgin Mary, August 15. Assumption Day commemorates the belief that when Mary, the mother of JesusChrist, died, her body was not subjected to the usual process of physical decay but was “assumed” into heaven and reunited there with her soul. This holiday, which has been celebrated since the fourth century CE, is a Christianization of an earlier harvest festival and, in many parts of Europe, is known as the Feast of Our Lady of the Harvest.
10 In God, whose word I praise,
in the Lord, whose word I praise— 11 in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can man do to me?
12 I am under vows to you, my God;
I will present my thank offerings to you. 13 For you have delivered me from death
and my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before God
in the light of life.
26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
