Nail Polish Danger? Chemical Triphenyl Phosphate.

I wore acrylic nails for 25 years being in the entertainment industry. OPI was my favorite.  I would layer colors to make it unique. I always used a professional nail salon. It came the day when I had a bad break where my nail was exposed to down to the nail bed. I had nails rip off before, band-aids were used frequently. But this one made me reflect, is it really worth it?  Then, I just soaked them off 5 years ago. No more chemicals. Now I realize the smell in the salons is toxic also the ingredients in the nail polish.  Many of the salon workers wear masks for that reason and many are of foreign decent. Now decades later, this study confirms what I already believed.

Via Natural News

Triphenyl phosphate (TPHP), a plasticizer dually used in nail polish and as a flame retardant for furniture, was detected in the urine of every woman who volunteered to participate in the study.

Environmental Working Group states,

The study found that when women applied nail polish with TPHP directly to their nails, the levels of a biomarker of that chemical in their urine increased sharply. Technically, the researchers tested the women’s urine for a chemical called diphenyl phosphate or DPHP, which is created when the body metabolizes TPHP. The results represent compelling evidence that TPHP, a suspected endocrine-disrupting chemical also used in plastics manufacturing and as a fire retardant in foam furniture, enters the human body via nail polish.”

25 percent of polishes containing TPHP didn’t have it listed on their label.

At Paulsboro, New Jersey, the site of the 2.2-square mile town had a vinyl chloride chemical spill train derailment meeting that turned ugly and uninformative.  A line wrapped around the Nehaunsey Middle School 30 minutes before the doors opened with hundreds of aggravated and irate residents with questions that were not answered it was reported.  It is day six of this evacuation period. Approximately 600 to 800 gallons of the chemical remained in the breached 84-car freight Conrail train  tanker.

Tennile Blake said,

My son has been coughing like crazy since this happened. I’ve been lightheaded, dizzy.”

Samuel Davis declared,

They just tell us to come here, and you come here, and its pure nonsense. It’s disorganized.”

Treva Oster also said,

We’re not going to get the proper answers that we need.”

Other residents questioned,

We’re wondering why those people who are so far away have been evacuated and we have not?” “It’s not like God put up a shield.”  Another person said,“It’s upsetting. I want to know about the air quality.” A Mother said, “The kids are off from school, and they want to go back.”

Lawrence Ragonese, N.J. Department of Environmental Protection replied,

Right now the public health is good. They are in good shape; the air levels and the samples are very low.”

The livid crowd shouted,

It’s a lie!, tell us the truth!” “It’s worse than what he’s saying,”  “Go home tomorrow morning and listen for a bird to chirp. You won’t hear it!”

Kathleen Moore from the U.S. Coast Guard stated,

We are in very good shape right now. We are moving ahead in removing the product from the tank car.”

I would like to know Governor Chris Christie opinion of this situation? He has remained silent but was so vocal during Hurricane Sandy.

The Mantua Creek is a a tributary to the Delaware River. Could it be a threat to Philly’s Drinking Water?

According to National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) chairwoman Debrorah Hersman, the conductor of the train that derailed Friday morning in Paulsboro, first came upon a red light before crossing the bridge.
